Pench National Park Welcomed Nearly 90000 Tourists in 2018-19

Year 2019 has been a busy year for Madhya Pradesh’s popular national park, Pench. The park welcomed around 88,683 tourists in the year 2018-19 and has emerged as one of the most visited parks in the state.

According to the reports, Pench Tiger Reserve was swarmed by 79,852 domestic tourists and around 8,831 international tourists that led to the earning of whopping Rs. 3,11,35,923 revenue in 2018-19. Pench National Park, which also boasts the highest vegetation density in India is known to have received merely 988 domestic tourists in 1997-98. But it started to make progress gradually and was given the Best Management Award in 2010-11 and second in the year 2014.

A Look Inside Pench National Park

Established in 1975, Pench National Park in Madhya Pradesh sprawls in an area of 257.26 sq km that includes Pench Tiger Reserve (82.3 sq km). The national park consists of dry deciduous forest and is home to leopards, wild cats, dogs, hyenas, jackals, foxes, wolves, mongoose, bison, chital, sambhar, nilgai, chausinga, chinkara, wild boar and many other wild species. The Totladoh Reservoir in the national park is a haven for about 325 species of birds that also include migratory birds. The activities to enjoy in Pench National Park include bird watching, jungle safari and camping, local cultural programmes, nature trail walks, scientific study, climbing the tree-houses, visiting the interpretation centres, etc.

Park Management

There are three entry gates, namely Rukhad, Telia and Khawasa through which tourists are allowed. Pench manages the staff of 96 guides including 12 women guides and has a fleet of 142 registered jeeps that are available for wildlife safari. Turia is the most prominent entry gate in Pench National Park where alone 56 guides and 124 jeeps are deployed to serve the tourists.
